Burke-USA TODAY Sports The PGA Tour is once again returning to the Lone Star state, after crowning Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry as the winners of the Zurich Classic in New Orleans! The CJ Cup Byron Nelson will be a rather significant field to grab for all the 156 players, with not just a purse of $9.5 million, but also a grip on 500 FedEx Cup points and essentially a two-year exemption on the Tour. It is scheduled to begin on May 2 and conclude on May 5. With so much at stake, the air of competition is going to be pretty intense, and the entire golf community is awaiting its inception this season! Jason Day, the defending champion, is in the field to fetch his first win since last year at the 7,414-yard, par-71 layout. Day defeated Jordan Spieth and won by one stroke with a 261, scoring 9-under-62 in the final round, breaking his 5-year winless streak. This time, he is to follow in the footsteps of K.H. Lee, who won the championship twice in a row in 2021 and 2022. Joining him will be eminent players like Byeong Hun An, Jake Knapp, and Nick Dunlap. Round 1 of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson is to begin at 6:50 am on Thursday, and the opening tee-off will be made by Kevin Chappell, Taylor Pendrith, and Kevin Yu. Here are the tee timings and pairings for the rest of the round. TEE 1: TEE 10: As the first round concludes, the players will move on to the next round at the TPC Craig Ranch in Texas. The 43-year-old has tee-off at four events so far this season. The last was at the Zurich Classic, where he finished T11 with his teammate Charlie Hoffman. At the TPC Craig Ranch, will it be Jordan Spieth grabbing his first victory of the season? It remains to be seen.
